Department of History

 

To develop students’ interest in the study of past and bring in an understanding of cultural, social, political, economic, intellectual and religious changes in the past and their relation to the historical context for the period under study.

 

With the degree, the students can become teachers, lecturers and  historians. History students have quite a wide range of employment prospects in different sectors. One of the most frequently chosen career is the field of education. They  can opt for a career as a research assistant or researcher at college and university level which might in turn lead to a career as professor of history. History graduate can continue with post graduate study in more vocational field such a Public Policy, Political Science, Public Administration, Journalism & Communication etc. In public sector, graduates are recruited to the civil service. Besides this, with specialist training, graduates can become professional in cultural resource management and Historical Preservation. Other Career include- Librarian, Museum or Gallery Curator, Architist, Genealogist, Record- Manager and Information officer.
