Department of Geography

 

Geography is the two-way bridge between the physical and social sciences as it explores the interelationships between the earth’s physical and biological systems and how these environmental systems provide a natural resource base for human societies.

 

Thus our objective is to make students understand the complexity of interelationships between people and the environment, so that they understand a number of societal issues and problems including  urban planning, transportation, land use, water management, coastal erosion, market research, floodplain management, etc in a vital geographic perspective .Department of Geography was started in 2006 in the college and fully equipped two laboratories are dedicated to provide the knowledge of practical aspect of the subject. All students gain ‘hands on’ experience of facilities and are encouraged to use them in independent studies. Besides, department organize the lectures of eminent persons, exhibitions, quiz, group discussions, class room seminars etc.

  

 

After P.G. in Geography students can join various professional courses like Town Planning, Cartography and Automate Cartography GIS, Teaching, Research and Technical Fields.
